Progress.... Slow but progress!

I finished both tubes for the last two panels for my scrappy bargello! YAY :)

Here's proof!

If this is your first time visiting you can find my previous posts about this journey (and it has been a journey!) here (this post gives link to pattern), here, here, here, beginning of post here and finally here . . . WOW, this really has been a journey!! I will cut and sew the panels today and figure out which configuration to put them in.... and maybe, just maybe if it sings really loud to me as to which layout looks best, I can get them attached and start cutting the borders!

I was thinking about doing a piano border with the smaller length strips I have left from the various fabrics in this quilt.... then I thought about how long it would take me to sew over 200 strips together.... and decided not to :) I will definitely be making another scrappy bargello (smaller and maybe it will turn out like the pattern LOL) and maybe I will do that or a friendship braid.  I'm afraid if I do that with this quilt, it will end up getting folded up and not looked at again for months.... it's cold - I need that quilt on my bed!! :)

I am also pondering the quilting.... I have a 2" grid just waiting!  What would you do? Straight diagonal lines? Orange peel? All over design? Spirals, Spiral Squares? I would LOVE to hear your ideas! Have you seen a bargello in person (I have not) and how was it quilted?

I am linking up with Kelly over at My Quilt Infatuation for Needle and Thread Thursday.  If you are here visiting my blog from NTT, welcome! Have a look around and comment if you feel so inclined, I answer them all by email or will answer on the blog if you are a no reply blogger.  Thanks for visiting!  If you haven't linked up to the linky party, head on over and see what everyone else is doing!

  2. I think a solid border matching the blue in your center would look really good. As for quilting, think of what you can handle on a quilt this large. I would probably do an all over quilting design so I didn't have to turn one this large so many times.

  3. This quilt is going to be awesome! I always love a good stippling on at quilt, and I feel like I can even manage it on big quilts. Good luck with the decision!

Thanks for partying at Needle and Thread Thursday!
